CLASS D Dry Chemical Portable Fire Extinguisher is used to protect areas where Class D (flammable metal) fire may occur. Class D dry powder contains a special mixed sodium chloride dry powder fire extinguishing agent. The heat from the fire causes it to agglomerate and form a shell outside the flame, isolating the air and emitting the heat generated by burning metal. The fire extinguisher can successfully put out metal fires involving magnesium, sodium, potassium and sodium potassium alloys. Some data show that zirconium, uranium, titanium and aluminum powder fires can be controlled and extinguished with this unique fire extinguisher
